Why students migrate for higher education (HE) is an important question for HE policy. This policy question is important for multiple reasons. First, there is a greater emphasis on quality improvement in HE institutions. The student mobility can potentially facilitate the ‘cream skim’ and thereby leading to the furtherance of quality in HE institution. Second, increasing language and cultural skills fit for the purpose are vital organic constituents of the economic development of the region. Third, student mobility not only enhances the wider socio-economic transformation at the aggregate level, but it is also an incentive for students themselves to have rewarding career opportunities.
