USAID Vriddhi is providing technical assistance for implementation of HBYC program at state level with focused attention on three districts of Jharkhand; Lohardaga, Simdega & West Singhbhum. ASHAs trained for conducting Home base Newborn Care (HBNC) and Home Based Young Child Care (HBYC) visits, have been involved in house-to-house surveillance for COVID19 and monitoring of quarantine cases.
USAID Vriddhi team has provided information by way of messages and videos on infection prevention and control against COVID19 to Sahiyas (ASHAs) for sharing with family members during their visit.

After being trained in HBYC in November 2019, I have been conducting home visits for HBNC and HBYC in my village. Since the outbreak of COVID19, I have been conducting these visits along with monitoring of health and well-being of home quarantine cases as well as providing them information which USAID Vriddhi team has provided us through whatsApp messages and videos:
- WASH hands often
- STAY home
- KEEP a safe distance
- COVER your cough
- SICK? Call the helpline
“With USAID Vriddhi’s support these visits have been quite effective and useful. I am thankful for their continuous support, Johar.”
SAHIDA JANI, Sahiya (Nari village, Kisko block, district Lohardaga)
I have been conducting home-to-home visits for HBYC & HBNC since November 2019 after being trained in HBYC. After the pandemic outbreak these visits have been layered in with COVID19 home surveillance.
I have been informing all the members of family about the corona virus disease and the ways to prevent against it during the home surveillance visits.
With the help of messages and videos on COVID 19 prevention provided by USAID Vriddhi team, it has become convenient to inform and make the family members understand the disease and the ways to prevent against it.
“I express my sincere gratitude to the USAID Vriddhi team for their effort and support”.
